A Message From Our President
I am happy to represent Temple Israel as its current president, succeeding a lengthy history of those who paved the way for us to be here celebrating 108 years! I have lived in the neighborhood for 3 decades, raising my son here, teaching in our religious school, and participating in many rich learning opportunities offered by our congregation. My Temple family is a very meaningful part of my life.
We are a Temple with history and tradition, but very open to various ways of being Jewish and living Judaism. Our members are diverse and our worship services reflect the many styles to be spiritual and pray, finding peace within yourself while making the world a better place. All are welcome here, including friends and family of different faiths.
Temple Israel is led by a membership board and runs with our small but mighty congregational participation. We are open to new ideas and encourage our members' voices to be heard so we can each find a way to create a common bond within our different beliefs. From our backyard Community Garden to our social action participation in N.W. Indiana, to our Sisterhood-sponsored gatherings for fun- there is something here for everyone.
We invite you to come spend an evening with us. Services are held every Friday night at 7:30PM and an oneg (delicious foods) follows services. Or feel free to visit us at any of our other social or educational events.
Please stop by. Our members are warm and welcoming, and we look forward to meeting you!
Celebrating 108 years in the community!
Temple Israel President
